Type of vehicle?

Post  jtgraham on April 24th 2008, 4:02 pm

The DOI/NPS rules say legally state licensed vehicle.

Abiding by the rules isnt a problem, and both of of have reminded tourists in the past not to drive so fast or reckless..etc.
We certainly arent ripping up in 40 year old antiques out there!

If you want to drive here - learn how. Be a TRUE steward of the environment. Let your footprint drift away with the wind or the rain.

That was not my point

Post  Frank Folb Jr on April 23rd 2008, 10:05 pm

My point is that the judge and green beans will want your dune buggy off the beach. As for my F150 it makes very little ruts because I let the air down in all 4 tires to 16lbs. I do not care what people choose to drive on the beach as long as they abide by the rules. We do not need user groups calling in incident reports. So I always try and ask people nicely to stop screwing up and explain why. If this does not work I I call the ranger myself.

We should all take this approach.

Type of vehicle is immaterial

Post  FriscoGirl on April 23rd 2008, 9:46 pm

The fact that it is a vehicle is sufficient for these environmental groups to want to ban it!
Look at Yellowstone and the snowmobile issue!

My Dune buggy has 60 HP and weighs 1300lbs.
Floats over the sand not through it.My small SUV makes much larger ruts as does whatever 4x4 you got.

I would bet ya!!

Post  Frank Folb Jr on April 21st 2008, 6:54 pm

You'd be one of the first ORV's banned!!

Someone was telling me they called about getting a permit for Assategue and was asked what type of vehicle he had. He has a F350, He was asked if it was a dually he said no, Why? duallies aren't allowed they make to many ruts.

All a crook of POOP But that will be the kind of POOP we will be going through because of DOI and their yellow bellies!!

Whats the scoop on vehicle types being allowed?

Post  Zcarnut on April 21st 2008, 5:31 pm

I only ask because me and my father in law both have street legal fiberglass dune buggies.I'd hate to see a provision banning "2wd vehicles".
